On May 13th, 2016 an Ohio Historic Marker was dedicated at the Lake Road, Rocky River site which was the location for Cowan Pottery design and production from 1920 to 1931. This was a joint project between Rocky River Historical Society and Cowan Pottery Museum Associates. The Ohio Historic Marker program is operated by Ohio History Connection who validate and approve Marker content and placements and arrange production of the Markers. This Marker joins the one dedicated in 2015 at the first Cowan Pottery site in Lakewood, Ohio. It is the first Ohio Historic Marker placed in Rocky River. The dedication event included a display of pottery and historic photographic panels in the original Display Room building.
The dedication included introductory remarks from representatives of RRHS, CPMA, Cowan Pottery Museum and Ohio History Connection. This was followed by official dedication by the Mayor of Rocky River, Pam Bobst, who the unveiled the Marker with assistance from Bill Cowan, grandson of R. Guy Cowan.
